Hardcoat Stucco
Hardcoat Stucco is the more traditional stucco finish. It consists of tar paper and metal lath over the exterior sheathing of the building. Concrete is then spread or sprayed over and into the metal lath in two layers, approximately 3/4 inch thick. This can be covered with acrylic finish, like EIFS, or an elastomeric paint, which is extremely flexible to stretch as the cement coat expands and contracts. This system is very durable, but provides no insulation value and may require slightly more maintenance than EIFS.
